Week 13 of 52 : Crossed Ankles Bedroom Hogtie
As we come to the end of the first quarter of 2018, in week 13 of our photo-a-week project, we're indulging in some magic-wand hogtie fun! ;-)
Many people will find a crossed ankles hogtie more comfortable and it has the advantage of tending to keep the knees apart, and thighs open. Using the same tie that we photographed last week, but rolling your partner onto their tummy, you have the first half of a hogtie style tie already in place
In the photo above you see the tie we described last week in Crossed Ankles Futomomo. It works well seated and on one side, but it's also great lying down.
Adding the wrist tie afterwards makes a traditional gote awkward, so we have improvised with a double-wrap around the upper arms and a single wrap under the tummy, which helps keep your partner's wrists snuggly against their lower back. Arguably the lower wrap (small of back) could have been incorporated into the friction. Caught up in the moment I didn't think of it at the time, but it would have beenĀ an improvement, and could also have been decorated with some sword hilt wrapping. (Note to self for next time!)
The open-knee position allows unrestricted access for hands and toys, and the absence of any requirement for a line between ankles and wrists makes the position feel even more exposed. The ankles don't need to be especially tight as the position is strictly maintained by the futomomo aspect of the tie.
And our final image above comes from the opening of the scene. We've found it's good to begin in this Lotus style position, cradling your partner from behind for plenty of reassuring contact and intimacy. Your faces are close as you look over the their shoulder and reach around to their ankles, and there are delicious opportunities for your hands to wander. Teasing your rope against your partner's skin is also a lovely tactile sensation, for those who enjoy such kinkiness. :-)

We've taken the technique we photographed last week in our post, Crossed Ankles Futomomo and used it as the basis of a simple, but effective hogtie style of tie.
We're now a quarter of the way through the year - week 13 of our Kinbaku52 photo-a-week project. Take a look back and if you think our style and techniques are improving, we owe a lot to the tutorials we've followed from the ShibariClasses website. We've also been finding Shin Nawakiri's book very helpful, and have written about that here: Essence of Shibari.
We've suggested a few helpful tutorialsĀ and resources below.

The rope we're using is Okinawa Jute rope from Esinem-Rope.
Next week we're departing from tying techniques and will highlight some useful resources for the treatment and care of natural, jute shibari ropes.
