We have about a dozen vibrators altogether, but whilst I'm sure that everyone loves to collect sexy new toys, if you're anything like us you'll find there are two or three regulars that mostly leave the rest relegated to the back of your toybox. In our case that's been the following three:
- Tracey Cox Supersex USB Rechargeable Rabbit
- Lovehoney Mains Powered Deluxe Magic Wand
- Desire Luxury Clitoral Vibrator
Several bullet vibes, vibrating cock rings, a couple of love eggs, even our WeVibe 4+, don't get anything close to the action that these three see! In an earlier review article, "Rabbit vs Wand", we took an in-depth look at our Tracey Cox Supersex Rabbit and Lovehoney Deluxe Magic Wand. I stand by those as two of our favourites, but the Desire Luxury Clitoral Vibrator has quickly found its niche and currently seems to be getting the most use out of all our vibrating toys.
It really comes into its own as a couples' vibe to use during sex. The curved shape nestles beautifully around your nest ;-) and the prominent tip feels like it could not be more perfectly aligned with your clit. The design really is lovely. It feels amazing whilst never seeming to get in the way.
Missionary style positions with your partner on top work very nicely as the Desire Vibrator pretty much takes care of itself. Your natural movements lead to variation in pressure and position that feel fabulous.
Other positions, if you like to straddle your partner in variations of a cowgirl or reverse cowgirl, also work well but you obviously need to consciously hold it in position. For doggy-style positions, we've found it best if your partner holds it in position, simply because it leaves your hands and arms free for support.
Before we had the Desire vibe, we'd tried all of the above with our wand and bullet vibrators, but found the wand too bulky and awkward (and perhaps a little too powerful) and bullets always seemed too small and fiddly. The sleek curve of the Desire gets the balance just right and unlike smaller 'bullets', the hubby seems to need little or no guidance getting it into the perfect position.
It's USB rechargeable and the battery performance has been very good. It can handle more than ten minutes of constant use without any noticeable drop in power. We recharge it after use and it appears to hold the charge well too; even if it's not used for a couple of weeks the battery retains plenty of oomph.
In our initial review article, "Lovehoney Desire Clitoral Vibrator", we complained the charging port is tricky to locate, mainly because you have to push the plug through the silicon cover at a slightly 'upward' angle. It's fiddly, but in fairness to the design, you do very quickly get used to it. (In the photo above the plug is only partially inserted for clarity, it's flush with the silicon when actually charging.)
You can see from the photo above that it's by far the smallest of these three vibrators. Not as small as a typical bullet vibe, but the flattened out shape and curvature are what makes it special and we've never found the size to be a problem.
Each of these three toys has a unique appeal. The wand is remarkable for its sheer power and deeply penetrating rumbly vibrations. The rabbit remains my favourite toy for solo play, and this Tracey Cox deluxe model features a delicious g-spot curve and soft, luxury feel.
The Desire vibe has become our favourite for use during sex and gives you just the right additional zing for extra-thrilling, toe-curling pleasures! ;-)
